Over the 40 years in the profession, Meng has created a number of famous Shu Embroidery works ― some on display at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. She has some of her favorite works collected at the workshop, and on the works you can have a look of vivid pictures: carps, pandas, portraits and the splendid landscapes.

She has also set up training courses of Shu Embroidery, with the aim to help people learn more about and carry on the traditional art. On her initiative, the courses have been introduced into several colleges in Chengdu.

Meng believes this intangible cultural heritage will have a promising future. "You'd think embroidering only belongs to female, yet quite a number of Shu Embroidery masters are men," she said, adding that more and more young men wish to learn this "delicate craft".
