The city of Chengdu was selected as one of the 21 "Best of the World" destinations for 2017, China's only city on the list, in the recent National Geographic Traveler magazine, which features Chengdu in the culture section for food and cultural heritage.
In recent years, Chengdu has gained tourism-themed titles as follows:
