As of May 30, the Dujiangyan Base of the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda (CCRCGP) was put into trial operation for the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Chengdu (CDETO) of theHong Kong SAR, Hong Kong Trade Development Council and media outlets. With 20 pandas living there, the center is expected to open to visitors within the year.It is learnt that the Center, which was reconstructed with the help of theHong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR)government, covers 7 areas respectively for research on disease control and prevention, rescue and quarantine, rehabilitation train, public education, offices and natural landscape. It can accommodate 40 giant pandas in terms of rescue, feeding and management.
