“Enrichment” is a term of zoo, which means making life of captive animals more interesting and enjoyable, to enable them to behave more naturally as they live in wild.
This is one of the normal and key arrangements of Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding (Panda Base).
Last year, keepers of Panda Base tried to make some enrichment items by fresh pumpkin for giant pandas during the Halloween, which effectively prolonged eating time of the chubby animals. Hence, Panda Base produced more pumpkin items this year, which was enjoyed greatly by the giant pandas.
