The 2019 Thai Festival Week presents a variety of products from over 70 companies in Thailand and Chengdu. There are also Thai dance shows, promotion conferences on Thai tourism and culture, lucky draws and spicy food-eating contests on the spot.
"Food is the simplest yet most effective means for cultural exchange," said Mr. Vithit Powattanasuk, Consul General of the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Chengdu. " When it embraces your taste bud subtly, you will have the first-hand understanding about the local culture."

Having worked in Chengdu for 8 months, Mr. Powattanasuk has found a dish that can perfectly reflect the combination of the gastronomic culture of Chengdu and Thailand. "That is Tom Yum Hot Pot. When Sichuan hotpot meets Tom Yum Soup, a wondrous flavor is created."
There are 120 Thai restaurants in Chengdu at present, and Phuket Island supplies 2 tons of seafood to Chengdu every day. "The CPAFF serves as a platform to make Thai culture and cuisine known to Chengdu people and vice versa." Talking about his favorite Chengdu snacks, Mr. Powattanasuk gave many names, like Dandan Noodles, Zhong's Dumplings and San Da Pao.

At the fair for Thai commodities during the 2019 Thai Festival Week in Chengdu, the wood carved products brought by the president of the chamber of commerce in Chiang Mai drew great attention of many local merchants. "We expect to promote these Thai commodities that are less known to Chengdu people, and we hope our members can establish ties with more distributors in Chengdu."
