As an important platform to promote communication and understanding among world cities, the Second World Cultural Capitals Tianfu Symposium were convened on July 22-24 here in Chengdu.

At the opening ceremony and main forum on July 23, 11 Chinese and foreign museums jointly launched an initiative calling for establishing a community of shared destiny for cultures of all countries and regions throughout the world. Titled "Museums Hand in Hand", the initiative is aimed to strengthen exchanges and cooperation among international museums and to promote global cultural prosperity. The museums are the Museum of Rotterdam in the Netherlands, Tate Modern in London, the UK, Teatro Comunale di Bologna in Italy, Dunhuang Academy in Jiuquan, northwest China's Gansu Province, Liangzhu Culture Museum (Research Institute) in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province, Yinxu Museum (Research Institute) in Anyang, central China's Henan Province, Wuhou Shrine Museum in Chengdu, southwest China's Sichuan Province, Chengdu Du Fu's Thatched Cottage Museum, Chengdu Museum, Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum and Sanxingdui Museum in Guanghan, Sichuan.

Proposal for Museums "Hand in Hand"

The essence of communications and dialogues among cities is the exchange and reference of cultures. Museums, as the crystallisation of culture, play an important role in preserving a city's cultural heritage.

To this end, we hereby propose that:

With the spirit of cultural exchange, global collaboration, sharing and openness, we should strengthen exchanges and cooperation with museums from all over the world, and enhance the influence of culture in global cities. We should also build a community of shared cultural destiny, and promote the global cultural prosperity, to achieve the goal of "enhancing our own strength, learning from each other, and seeking common development".
