Chengdu Sees 14.1% Foreign Trade Growth in Jan-Mar

According to the latest statistics released April 16 by Chengdu Customs, the city’s foreign trade volume in the first quarter hit RMB139.82 billion, increasing 14.1% from the same period of last year and accounting for 87.9% of Sichuan Province’s total.
The statistics show that the imports and exports between Chengdu and countries and regions along the Belt and Road increased continually to RMB47.38 billion which made up one third of the city's total.
Another limelight of the statistics is the significant growth of the foreign trade volume of foreign–invested companies, which amounted to RMB110.35 billion, up 20% year on year.
During the period, the Chengdu Hi-Tech Comprehensive Bonded Zone realized a gross export and import volume of RMB107.84 billion, rising 18.8% year on year and topping all of its Chinese counterparts for the 24th consecutive month. ASEAN countries are the biggest export market of the Zone, which deals primarily with products involving electronic information and aerospace technology.
In the three months, the Chengdu International Railway Port ran a total of 799 inbound and outbound cargo trains, including 447 running along the China-Europe Express Railway, up 36.3% and 92.7% year on year respectively. In addition, the Port handled 1.06 million import and export transactions via cross-border e-commerce, 21 folds over the same period of a year ago.
