Chengdu’s Foreign Trade Volume Hits RMB201.66 Bln in Jan-Apr-GoChengdu

According to the latest statistics released May 12 by Chengdu Customs, Sichuan Province’s gross foreign trade volume hit RMB228.24 billion, increasing 17.3% from the same period of last year.

During the period, Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, realized a total value of imports and exports amounting to RMB201.66 billion, up 20.3% year on year. Among the amount, the total export reached RMB104.83 billion, rising 14.3% year on year, and the total import RMB96.83 billion, rising 27.5% year on year.

The statistics show some highlights of the city's foreign trade industry in the four months. The first is that this April saw a more rapid growth in foreign trade, which increased 36.9% compared to last April.

The second is that ASEAN countries were Chengdu's largest trade partner. The trade value between them hit RMB44.57 billion, accounting for 22.1% of the city's total. While the imports and exports between the city and the United States and EU accounted for 20.8% and 20.2% of the city's total, respectively.

The third is that the trade volume between the city and countries and regions along the Belt and Road jumped 40% to RMB65.54 billion in the four months.
