The Pakistani city will become the 25th international sister city of Chengdu.
On December 30, the 12th Session of the Standing Committee of the 16th Chengdu Municipal People’s Congress decided by voting that Chengdu will establish a sister-city tie with Lahore, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The Pakistani city will thus become the 25th international twin city of Chengdu.
Lahore is the provincial capital of Punjab and the province’s political, economic and cultural center. As the second largest city in south Asian country, the green city is blessed with a mild climate and known as a “garden city”. Lahore, with well-established infrastructure, huge potential of economic growth, as well as profound cultural and educational resources, is also Pakistan’s industrial, business and farm produce distribution center, and rail and road transport hub.
After officially establishing the tie, both cities will be in an all-round partnership in the areas of infrastructure construction, processing and trade of agricultural products, cultural and educational exchange, textile industry and tourism.
