As part of the Chengdu Panda Asian Food Festival (CPAFF), the “TASTE OF ISRAEL” Food, Culture and Tourism Themed Day, kicked off on May 16 and will run till May 19.
The event showcases Israeli food, culture and tourism through diversely themed activities, including an opening ceremony, the Night of Tel Aviv, music and dance performances and food tasting. Visitors can get Israeli delicacies for free by posting and earning likes on WeChat.
An Israeli food, tourism and culture gathering named "Next Stop, Israel!" was open on the Chunxi Road Subway Square and will run till May 19. It is aimed to let local citizens know more and better about the unique Israeli food culture.
At the invitation of the Consulate General of Israel in Chengdu, an Israeli master chef named Kobi, who once cooked for the prime minister of Israel, to make Israeli specialty dishes for locals at the venue.
"This is a win-win event," said Mr. Ran Peleg, Consul General of Israel in Chengdu who thought highly of the CPAFF.
He said that Kobi would attend other events during the food festival, to compare notes about culinary skills with his counterparts from Chengdu and other parts of the world."We will bring Israeli food and wine to Chengdu people, and we've prepared surprise gifts for them. The lucky ones to be selected through a lucky draw will have chances to go to Israel for free."
