Nobel Laureate Joins Chengdu TINBRI as Honorary Director

Following the launch of a project led and invested by Nobel laureate Dr. Roger David Kornberg at the Chengdu Tianfu International Bio-Town last week, the Town introduced another Nobel winner on May 15.
On the day, the 2018 International Health Investment Summit Forum, jointly held by the Chengdu High-tech Talent Development Promotion Association, Chengdu Tianfu International Nobel Biomedicine Research Institute (TINBRI) and Hinova Pharmaceuticals Inc., was convened in Chengdu, with an attendance of more than 200 experts and professionals from the bio-medicine industry.
Dr. Robert Huber, a German biochemist who shared the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1988 with Johann Deisenhofer and Hartmut Michel for their determination of the three-dimensional structure of a photosynthetic reaction center, was present at and addressed the forum as the keynote speaker. Engaged as the TINBRI's honorary director, he spoke highly of Chengdu's fast growth in the bio-medicine industry, when asked about his impression of the city.
The Chengdu TINBRI, set up in last September, has introduced more than 10 top talents worldwide, including Dr. Karl Barry Sharpless, the recipient of the 2001 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. And the bio-town has seen the presence of 4 start-up teams led by Nobel winners Drs. Robert Huber, John Michael Bishop, Karl Barry Sharpless and Roger David Kornberg respectively.
