South Africa, Chengdu See Big Room for Cooperation

When will the direct air link between Chengdu and South Africa be launched? In what areas do Chengdu and South Africa have more cooperative potentials? ...
Mr. Des Van Rooyen, Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, South Africa, detailed his answers to the questions on July 11 at a media interview in Chengdu.
"It is my first time to visit Chengdu. I am deeply impressed with the city's pandas and the friendly people." Mr. Rooyen believes that there is big room for cooperation between the city and his home country because Chengdu is a world-famous tourist destination, and South Africa has lots of tourist resources.
So far, Chengdu has opened two direct air routes to Africa, and is planning to launch another one to Johannesburg, which will greatly enhance the economic, trade and personnel exchanges between Chengdu and South Africa. Mr. Rooyen said he will have talks with relevant departments on how to facilitate the cooperation between the two sides.
Currently, an increasing number of Chinese companies are accelerating their pace of going global and entering the South African market. "China is one of South Africa's important partners, and South Africa is an ideal investment destination for Chinese companies." Mr. Rooyen hoped that China could offer more support for the infrastructure construction and personnel training in South Africa.
