Innovation Cooperation Initiative of Chengdu’s International Sister Cities Published

On June 24th, the Innovation Cooperation Initiative of (Chengdu’s) International Sister Cities was published at the Innovation Forum for Mayors of International Sister Cities of Chengdu, one of the highlights of the 2016 China (Chengdu) Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fair (GIEF).
At the Forum, focusing on the theme "Innovation Leading to Win-Win Cooperation" of the 2016 GIEF, mayors and speakers from Chengdu's 36 international sister cities and the world's famous cities gathered together and probed into the topics on how to precisely map a city's DNA and conduct city marketing and branding, how government offers policy support to entrepreneurs and innovators, and how to revitalize old industrial cities via industrial transformation and upgrading.
Sharing Experience of Innovation of International Cities
A city's spirit of entrepreneurship and power of innovation are key to attracting investment globally. New York is the global leading center for economy, culture, education and science as well as for innovation. "I'm very delighted that Chengdu and New York can have such a good partnership. New York is an innovation center, and I will share the experience that how we can be an innovation center and achieve inclusive growth." At the Forum, Danny Kadishson, Director of Economic Development in the New York Mayor's Office for International Affairs, shared his city's experience with other participating cities on the basis of data and projects.
"We have lots of projects and plans to help enterprises and people who want to start their own business. There are 17 incubation parks in New York supporting entrepreneurs in different fields," said Danny. And he also thinks that New York is an essential place for women to start their own business. "Women entrepreneurship plan is an important part of our city. We hope women can find their own places in the society through entrepreneurship."
Regarding innovation as a key factor for its urban development, Moscow attaches great value to building its infrastructure and ecosystem for innovation so as to push forward its all-round development in education, culture and healthcare. "Through the construction of innovation and science park, we try to integrate research, education and production together. There is always a close connection between us and the teams, universities and R&D agencies in science parks," said Alexey Parabuchev, CEO of Moscow Agency of Innovations. He noted that Moscow government hoped to transform all the innovation centers into a key platform to facilitate the development of research, education and production.
Known for its hi-tech innovation, Tel Aviv, Israel, arouses global attention in terms of its support for start-ups. "We provide tax free policies and working places. Of course the good communication between start-ups and government is quite important and we can offer related services to them anytime," said Gal Sharabi, Councilor of Tel Aviv. He hopes through the 2016 GIEF, his city could further its relationship with Chengdu and other participating cities.
