5th Int’l Science Fiction Conference Wraps Up

Chengdu has made great efforts in recent years to push forward the sci-fi culture industry.
The 5th China (Chengdu) International Science Fiction Conference came to a successful end Nov. 24 in Chengdu, witnessing the exchange of scintillating ideas on sci-fi culture and sci-fi industry at discussions and forums.
The 3-day event brought together about 60 guests from 14 foreign countries and over 300 well-known sci-fi writers, scholars and industrial insiders from China, while a series of activities, including forums, exhibitions, book signings and films screening were staged, attracting more than 52, 000 participants. The views online of the opening ceremony and awarding ceremony for Galaxy Awards exceeded 568, 000.

Chengdu has made great efforts in recent years to push forward the sci-fi culture industry and has bidden to host the 81st World Science Fiction Convention in 2023.
Dubbed as the Capital of Science Fiction in China, Chengdu is the cradle of China's most popular sci-fi magazine Science Fiction World, which has cultivated quite a few sci-fi writers like Liu Cixin, Wang Jinkang and He Xi.
Chengdu is taking the lead in China in sci-fi related industries. Some of the best-known si-fi novels for the sci-fi blockbuster The Wandering Earth and Crazy Aliens were created in Chengdu, while top-notch animation creative teams engaging in sci-fi movies as Ne Zha and One Hundred Thousand Bad Jokes have headquarters in the city.
With the development of sci-fi industry, Chengdu is expected to achieve more fruitful results in the fields in the future.
