The importance of digital economy has further highlighted in restoring the economic and social development of various countries, creating more job opportunities, and enhancing people's livelihood and well-being. China and ASEAN have taken the Digital Economy Cooperation Year as an opportunity to cultivate more cooperation in the fields of smart cities, artificial intelligence, and big data.

In order to further strengthen ASEAN-China digital economy cooperation, relying on the agglomeration and radiation effects of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle to promote the development of digital economy in Western China, ASEAN-China Centre joined hands with the Chengdu Municipal People' s Government to co-host the 2020 ASEAN-China Digital Economy Cooperation Conference in Chengdu on November 9th, 2020 with the theme of "Co-building Digital Economy and Sharing New Drivers of Development". The conference also provided an online platform simultaneously, facilitating participation for more guests from different countries and regions.
