2016 China Dragon Boat Race (Jintang, Chengdu) Takes Place

The 2016 China Dragon Boat Race (Jintang, Chengdu) took place in Baima Lake, northeast Chengdu’s Jintang County, with the participation of 22 teams from all over the country, of which 5 were from Sichuan.
As an important celebration for the Dragon Boat Festival (also often known as the Duanwu Festival) for more than 2000 years, the event has been staged for six straight years in Jintang since 2011.
The customs the Chinese people usually observe for the festival include boat racing, eating Zongzi (a kind of glutinous rice dumpling stuffed with sweet or salty fillings), hanging Chinese mugwort and calamus, drinking realgar wine and wearing perfume pouches.
