The 2014 Chengdu Creativity and Design Week（CCDW）was staged in October in the city. Around 2,000 design productions from 15 countries or regions around the world were exhibited, and an award for creativity, which is the highest level ever in western China, was given during the Week. The idea “bringing creative design into every household” attracted a number of people to the event.

The Week includes eight activities such as an expo featuring the city’s creativity and design industry, an awarding ceremony on best creativity, and a program inviting foreign and domestic masters to show their design works on Chengdu, which attracted 10 top creative designers from across the world and aroused enthusiasm of their Chengdu counterparts.

All the exhibits by the masters have been on show at the Chengdu Century City New International Convention & Exhibition Center starting from October 11. Five of the 10 design masters came to the city to interact and share the ideas about their productions with local citizens. After the Week, all the works will be displayed in the local cultural and creative industries parks, and some of them may be utilized as public facilities in the city.

The much-anticipated creativity and design industry expo, which occupied an exhibition area of 40,000 square meters, was concluded on October 14. Around 5,000 productions from the UK, Italy, and China’s Hong Kong SAR, Taiwan , Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Chengdu, were displayed during the event. With an attendance of 112,000 from home and abroad, it achieved a volume of transactions hitting RMB 480 million (approx. US$80m).
