A GOOD YEAR BEGINS WITH A GOOD START IN SPRING, as the Chinese saying goes. Spring has come and everything comes to life. Living in Chengdu, what are you looking forward to in the new year?

Metro

Chengdu Metro Line 7 will be put into service by the end of 2017. The new subway line will link the three major railway hubs in the city ― Chengdu Railway Station, Chengdu East Railway Station and Chengdu South Railway Station.
Chengdu Metro Line 4, as a major subway line linking the city's east and west, will have its track extended to Wenjiang District in the west with the completion of its second phase project within the year.
Linking the downtown and Shuangliu International Airport, Chengdu Metro Line 10 is expected to be put into service in 2017. The first phase of the line will have 6 stops and reach Terminal 2 of the airport, with its service time from 5:00 a.m. to 23:00 p.m.

LIfe

Starting on Jan. 1, 2017, children under the height of 1.3 meters (previously 1.2 meters) are free of charge riding the bus and the subway in the city.
Sichuan Science and Technology Museum will undergo a reconstruction that involves an investment of RMB120 million and is expected to open to the public in September.
The construction of two large parks, the Shengdeng Park and Erxianqiao Park, covering 8 hectares and 14 hectares respectively, will be completed in 2017.

Entertainment

As a major cultural creative industry city in China, Chengdu will have important music events in the new year and local people will have the opportunities to enjoy the grand concerts participated in by some top names in the music industry, such as Andy Lau, Jacky Cheung and Jay Chou.
