The continued infrastructure improvement in the city will bring more convenience to its residents and tourists to the city.
The city of Chengdu takes on a new look everyday and it won’t slow down its pace, so what are we expecting in the new year?
Transportation
Hi-speed train to Beijing
The high-speed train from Chengdu to Beijing, numbered G308, completed its first running on the first day of 2015, going across Chongqing Municipality and the provinces of Hubei, Henan and Hebei province.
The bullet train, with the designed speed of 380 kmph, claimed the fastest rail speed so far in China and finished the over-2000-kilometer journey between Chengdu and Beijing in just about 14.5 hours.
Intercity rail to ensure quick arrival in Chongqing
Construction of the Chengdu–Chongqing Intercity Railway, with a total length of 308 kilometers, will be completed in March, 2015. The hi-speed railway will be a transportation artery in the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Zone (Chengyu Economic Zone) and shorten the traffic time between the two cities to just over one hour.
Quick transfer at Jinsha Station
Construction of Jinsha Station in western downtown is expected to be completed in April, 2015. The gigantic multifunctional complex, with two floors underground
and six floors above the ground, will make it a transportation hub to enable quick tranfers of different traffic means — subway, BRT (bus rapid transit), taxi, private car and electric bike — at the same spot.
