Chengdu on a Shoestring: a visit to artists’ zone

A tour to Sansheng Village in the eastern suburb of Chengdu brings you a close look of local artists and what they are doing and thinking about.
One of the best ways to learn about the culture of a city is to visit the communities of local artists, where you can watch how the artists work, and exchange ideas with them.
So go to the Sansheng Village in the eastern suburb of Chengdu, which is home to a community of local artists, galleries, workshops and museums, as well as a large number of flower farms, restaurants and holiday resorts.
For visitors, the village has plenty to offer — leisure, sightseeing, flower appreciation, fruit tasting and experiencing farm work. One of the important reasons that artists have decided to settle down in Sansheng Village is that they love the natural beauty around the place — the appealing environment that is believed to inspire them in artistic creations.
Dr. Barbara Mistick was delighted when she arrived at Sansheng Village on Nov. 1, 2014. Dr. Mistick is president of Wilson College in Pennsylvania, the US and the guest of “Chengdu on a Shoestring: footprints around the city”, a program sponsored by the website of www.gochengdu.cn.
Our First Stop in Sansheng Village is the Blue Roof Museum of Chengdu. The museum is not far from the bus stop (Hetang Yuese Stop) where the bus service of No.31, No.541 or No.899 can reach. Walking from the stop to the museum takes about 15 minutes and it’s not a tiring journey since the scenery along the way is quiet and refreshing: the lotus ponds, the verdant vegetation and the white egrets on wings.

Two-day Tour in the Downtown

A short stay will not give you adequate time to explore the city, but a visit to the midtown hot spots will also prove a rewarding experience.
