Green Lifestyle of a Chinese-German Family

Authors: Home in Chengdu

Have a place to live in an alien land and have something to attach yourself with the unfamiliar surroundings.
It's been 5 years since Kim, from Germany, came to China. Before coming to China, he had an enviable job in Spain, but he quitted the job and began his journey on his bicycle. When travelling in Chengdu, Kim met Li Dan, a native of Chengdu who went to New York at her 17 and became the director of a law firm.
Four years ago, Li Dan spotted the opportunities in Chengdu and came back to begin her new career in Chengdu. At first, she and Kim were just friends, and finally they fell in love with each other and started a family.
Kim and Li Dan live in an apartment of an old building, where the yard is filled with thick trees, which is a typical feature of the residential community of old Chengdu. With the green plants hanging outside the window of the living room, the residence is also decorated inside with potted plants.
An advocate of energy conservation in daily life, Kim has persuaded Li Dan to change her SUV to a small-displacement car. He is still continuing his bicycle riding in Chengdu and loves experiencing life while riding with his wife.
