About Earth Hour

Earth Hour occurs once a year, and people are encouraged to turn their lights off for just 60 minutes in the evening.
The idea is to show your commitment to the future of our planet – and it started as a lights-off event in Sydney, Australia, in 2007.
Since then the event, led by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), has grown to include more than 7,000 towns and cities worldwide.

This year, Earth Hour takes place at 8:30 p.m. local time on March 25. The theme of Earth Hour remains at Shining a Light on Climate Action, there's never been a more critical moment for the world to show solidarity for and a strong commitment to fighting climate change.

As the world stands at a climate crossroads, it is powerful yet humbling to think that our actions today will decide what tomorrow will look like for generations to come. This is our time to ‪change climate change and make a difference for our planet, our home.
