Starting from May 6, the British Airways (BA) increased its flight frequency of the London-Chengdu route from 3 times to 5 times a week. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft currently operate on the flights.

It is reported that the BA is the first flying with the Boeing Dreamliner aircraft in Chengdu, and the London-Chengdu route is the first international route on which the aircraft is in service. It’s believed that with the increased flight frequency, passengers between the two countries will get more conveniences and the business exchanges between Chengdu and the UK will be facilitated.

On April 12, 2014, CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China) released a communique regarding the statistical productivity of china’s airports in 2013, publishing the business data including passenger traffic and cargo throughput in 2013. The statistics show the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport ranked fourth in the country and Chengdu is praised as the “Fourth Aviation City in China.”
